Cristallo di Luce is a public art project by Diego Scroppo, produced by The Sharing and exhibited at the Environment Park in Turin. The work presents a totemic structure made of glass, steel and aluminium, illuminated by a LED system self-powered by photovoltaic technology, guarding an olive tree. Scroppo offers an artistic and ecological use of light, returning to the community the benefits of the energy that nourishes the work, constituting a “power-bank” with a low environmental impact. The artist's poetic ideal is thus realised, for which: “art must always be public, paradoxically it does not even belong to the author”.
The project is financed by the ‘ART~WAVES’ call for proposals of the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation, and is supported by the Piedmont Region, the Turin Chamber of Commerce and the CRT Foundation.
